Congrats to Claressa Shields for becoming the first American woman boxer to win a gold medal at the Olympics. Claressa defeated old Russian Nadezda Torlopova in the finals, 19-12.

17-year-old Claressa Shields will be representing the United States in the Women’s Middle competition. Boxing since age 11, Claressa was the youngest competitor at the 2012 Olympic trials at 17.
