As a fan of Street Fighter, I think Blanka should be a mascot for the 2016 Olympic games in Rio…but that’s just my opinion.

Congrats to Claressa Shields for becoming the first American woman boxer to win a gold medal at the Olympics. Claressa defeated old Russian Nadezda Torlopova in the finals, 19-12.

Gabby Douglas, 2012 Olympic women’s gymnastics all-around champion. She is the first black gymnast in Olympic history to medal in the individual all-around, and the first woman of color to win the gold.

Congrats to Kayla Harrison for being the first American - man or woman - to win an Olympic gold medal in Judo. Harrison competed in the 78 KG division, defeating Britain’s own Gemma Gibbons 2-0 to capture the gold.
According to ESPN.com, Harrison has overcome great odds to rise to the podium, including being sexually abused by a former coach and hating everything about the sport at one time.
She is currently engaged to a firefighter and plans on becoming one herself.
